Nalbinding

At Pennsic I was able to see someone working on Nalbinding.  I had heard about it but wanted to see someone doing it because the pictures in the Nalbinding books that I picked up were not clear.  This lady, I'm sorry that I do not remember her name, but she is an apprentice of Mistress Brid, pointed me in the right direction by suggesting that I pick up this book:

which I was able to follow much more easily that the material that I already had.  So within days I have been able to make two hats and a pair of mittens.  Nalbinding is a wonderful craft, the only annoying part is that you have to break off pieces of yarn and continually connect them to the work. Otherwise the work goes quickly because, due to the nature of using your thumb as a tensioning device, you use bulky weight yarn.
